Video Capture

I wanted a device that captures video from many sources, is external, using firewire at full frame rate and full quality. There are many products on the market that do this like the Hollywood Dazzle box, Directors Cut box, but I finally choose the Formac Studio box shown left.

This is an amazing piece of hardware, built in custom ASIC to convert full quality video to MPEG, and then transfer to firewire for capture on my MAC.

One feature that sets it apart from other devices is the build qualify, performance, and a built in TV decoder, so you can plug your external aerial directly into the box for TV capture and use your MAC like a video recorder.

I was truly impressed with the quality, it also excellent for capturing quality dedicated audio into your MAC.

The Studio box is middle of the range of prices, but well worth it,. I have heard of some horror stories with the Dazzle device, I am sure there are many users out there that are happy but for me the Studio box was the only choice.
