Then moved on to a Smartdisk 120Gb and now to the 350Gb Lacie D2 both these units are conduction cooled so are very quiet. Performance is great. I use the Smartdisk for all the images and iTunes database, and the 350Gb just for backup and archive. The Backup drive copies all my other drives, the MiniMac and the iBook every week automatically.

Never had to do a restore in 5 years (thanks to Apple, windows it a regular thing) but its always there to give me piece of mind.

	I started with a VST 40G External Firewire Drive. This is a great drive but a little dated now, performance is great, and I mainly use this drive for video capture and editing.
